VNX5300 - Block and File - StoragePools
Hi,
we have a VNX5300 working as Block without DataMovers. Next weeks we want to upgrade to Unified and install two DataMovers on the two VNX. We have 2 StoragePools. 1 Pool with 15 SAS and RAID5, 1 Pool with 8 NLSAS and RAID6.
Is it possible to use these StoragePools also for File (CIFS and NFS)?

Is this correct:
I use 7 TB with RAID5 in StoragePool 0. Now i use 3 TB of this Pool for VMware. After installing DataMover next week i will use 1,5 TB for NFS or CIFS from the same StoragePool.
Last Days i read a VMware Book. The Author says that the VNX need different StoragePools for Block and File.
Hope not!

thx for your answers. then i create a lun in a existing storage pool and assign them to file?

For performance reasons it would be better to create multiple LUNs - 5 or multiples of 5 - when using it for NAS
For example with the automated provision it would create roughly the same number of LUNs as there are drives

Hi,
we use multiple LUNs. So, we have 2 LUNs with 1TB only for vSphere5. Next we create 2 LUNs in the same Storage Pool also with 1TB per LUN for CIFS or/and NFS.
