VNXe 3150 Shared Folder Server and IP Gateway configuration
Hi
I'm just wondering how network configuration should go in this case: I have VNXe 3150 where management has own IP subnet, iSCSI is in its own IP subnet and now we would also add Shared Folder Server (SMB) in yet another IP subnet. Now this Shared Folder Server should be accessible also from remote networks. But when configuring Gateway for Shared Folder Server, I get error:
Setting the gateway for this server will also affect the other Servers on this Storage Processor
Are you sure you want to edit the gateway?
What is unclear to me, is on exactly what servers this error means? Does it affect only on Shared Folder Server, or does it also affect on iSCSI server of management?

Hi,
This will only affect CIFS servers not iSCSI servers. And you can also open a SR for Support to get more information on configuration.
Thanks

I actually opened SR but forgot to tell answers here. EMC Support said that default gateway is SP specific setting. Though in my experience management seems to have separated network settings. So if you have both iSCSI and Shared Folder server on same SP, they will share same default GW. Forgot to ask what happens if failover occurs and SP's have different default gateway settings...
I'd say that safest way would have one common default gateway for all iSCSI and Shared Folder servers. For iSCSI its not so related because it would be performance horror to run iSCSI traffic trough router anyways and I usually create isolated VLAN for iSCSI. But if you had multiple Shared Folder server in their segmented networks and need to route traffic, only way would be adding static net routes in Settings -> More Configuration -> Routes
