BIOS VIRUS SCAN

Is there a way that I can switch on the virus scanner in the BIOS of my Dell Precision 380?

viruses dont affect the BIOS, so no need to do that.

And there is no way to do that anyway.

In the BIOS of my Dell computer is a virus scanner. It is in the Phoenix BIOS.You're telling me that it can not be switched on.I assume that you are a factory trained Dell service tech. The virus scanner looks at header files as they enter the CPU.It actually looks for a zero if it is a one it gets deleted.

Sir, please enlighten me with your knowledge. here is the link which explains all the options in your system BIOS
http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ws380/en/ug/A04/advfeat.htm#wp1101281

By the way. The pheonix is a type of BIOS. For example the tree type and the single page BIOS. As far as the CPU virus protection is convened. I did hear that the New Dell E521 systems with AMD are enabled with that. But assuming that precision systems are superior to dimensions and assuming they may already have that function, the virun protections in it is on by default. Atleast in the upcoming system it is.

You (as well as all people reading and participating in this forum) should be advised that this is a completely open / public forum.   Meaning that anyone who wishes to respond here may do so... there are no prerequisites / qualifications / affiliations required nor implied.  In short, with the possible exception of a forum moderator, people responding here do NOT work for DELL, have absolutely no affiliation with DELL, and have not been trained by DELL.   "Advice" offered is merely that of an individual who is trying to help.  As such, the decision to accept & follow (or reject) such "advice" is purely your responsibility... and if the "advice" turns out to be "bad" (or if you get good advice, but follow it improperly), you alone are responsible... DELL has no liability whatsoever.

Dell computers themselves could respond to my question. It is their forum. The Dell BIOS blocks the Phoenix BIOS from being seen.I would insist that Dell prove to me that the BIOS virus scanner is switched on.A computer might cost $2500.$2500 for something that sticks, slows down, and stops. What parts maker would make parts for such a device?I have already had the motherboard replaced in my new Dell.A brand new computer needs virus scanner, firewall, etc.software. Where's the sense in this? The engineers that designed the computer put this virus scanner in the Phoenix BIOS and were not worried about incorrect file types or virus.

You might try posting this question over in the Windows forums att: Denny.

Maybe Denny can help you out a bit more.

This couldn't further from the truth. Please do not offer answers before researching. Both malware and virus CAN be in Bios firmware, specially for bcm firmware/network ethernet firmware and UEFI. They lay dormant and once the server/pc goes online it will activate, recode firmware "as needed" and download/upload pretty much anything its 'told" to do.

IMB just recently made a statement about in Feb, ONLY after the group who found it was due to release findings. The NSA is the root cause. No one or hardly anyone updates/patches BIOS. So BILLIONS of pc/servers are at risk.

Here is a good read for starters. Has a link to the entire article on Scribd as well.
