DS Broker Service

As soon as I signed into the Dell Forums today (because the forum won't save my password for long, although it does remember my login ?) Scotty the WinPatrol pup alerted me that that DS Broker Service wanted to load the file brkrsvc.exe and also wanted to put that in my start up menu. I said no both times, not knowing if this file is a good or a bad thing. Looking on Google didn't tell me much of anything.

This all came just a few mintutes after that insipid Dell Support "roll up window from the lower right of the screen with the stupid sound effect" annoyance reminding me my warranty is about to expire. I don't know if it is related to the DS Broker Service (DS=Dell Support perhaps??) I guess there is no way to turn this Dell Support window off unless I quit Dell for some reason, which is not likely.

Any advice about what this file is or does and whether I should have allowed or not will be appreciated.

Dale,

Just to clarify:   Is the Broker Service under StartUp Programs (in WinPatrol)?  or is it under Services?

Under StartUp, you should see:  Dell Support (filename:  DSAgent.exe)
I believe that if you allow Scotty to DISABLE this, Dell Support should not longer appear in your system tray, and hopefully, you will no longer be bothered by that  "insipid Dell Support roll up window from the lower right of the screen with the stupid sound effect".

Please note my wording, to DISABLE (rather than REMOVE it), which allows you an easy way to re-enable it should this not be the source of your problem.

I have found no further information on the BrkrSvc file...

DS Broker Service is listed under services and brkrsvc.exe is listed under the "command" column there and is shown as disabled. After looking through both services and the startup menu as shown in WinPatrol, I can't find any reference to DSAgent.exe, although I think I have seen it somewhere before, perhaps under processes. It would seem like the two above files are related somehow.

Under Startup, do you have a program/title DwlClient, filename/command support.exe ?
if so, this is the Download manager for Dell support alerts, and you can try DISABLING it to see if that changes anything.

I don't know that I can add anything more here... but here's a question which might help someone else:  what version of DELL Support do you have on your system?

Nothing even close to DwlClient or support.exe. I must have one weird system. :smileyindifferent:
And I can't figure out what version of Dell Support I have or where to look for it. Since everything appears to be working OK, go I don't have any real problems.
