FileError_22001

Hello everyone

I seem to have a problem with my computer

I lost all my previously saved file

Now everytime I open them, they keep showing the words " Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 FileError_22001"

Can anyone tell me how to recover my lost data? And also how to prevent this virus from happening again?

1.  What computer are you using?

2.  Where were your files saved to?  I'm assuming they were on the same hard drive?

3.  Can you boot into Safe Mode?

4.  Alternatively, boot from the OS disc, and perform a 'Repair' install.

Whilst the OS itself is re-installed, you don't lose all your files.  They're saved in a 'Windows.old' file.

5.  The only other way you *might* be able to recover your files, is using data recovery software.

But... although it's a lot cheaper than sending the hard drive off to data recovery specialists... the better data recovery software (i.e. GetDataBack) isn't cheap.

What price your lost files though :emotion-55:

6.  The only way to help prevent getting viruses, is to have good anti virus software installed.

I personally now use Eset's complete 'Smart Security', simply because I was offered a cheap upgrade from their NOD32 AV program - which I was using previously.

But Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 is another very highly rated package.

As reviews will show... those two are undoubteldy the two most highly regarded commercial programs on the market just now
