SPRTCMD.EXE
I see this executable in the Win 7 task manager processes tab. Did a Google search and it said the file is for Dell Support Center. I searched in the Explorer and it only came up as a pre-fetch file with the name SPRTCMD.exe - 474f293.pf. I believe I removed Dell Support Center from my PC. I don't see the file in C:\Program Files\HWDiag\bin where if I still had it installed, would be located there. Is what I see in the processes list a virus?

Hi Larry, and welcome to the forum.
Pre-fetch files (.pf) exist to speed up loading a program. Legit .pf files will be found in your C:\Windows\Prefetch folder only. If it is located elsewhere I'd be suspicious. If you do find your sprtcmd.exe..pf there, you can right-click on it and delete it. (I agree that Dell Support Center is not worth using). If you do not find it in the Prefetch folder, please advise us where it is located.
Alternatively, you can hi-lite this process in Task Manager and hit [End Process]. Reboot. Is it still present?
All that said, it is true that malware can disguise itself under any name. So are you experiencing any problems with your system? (slowdowns, freezes, unwanted pop-ups, etc).
Finally, you say you believed you "removed" Dell Support Center. Forgive me for asking, as I don't know your level of experience, but I have to wonder if this was done properly.
i.e. via Start>Control Panel>Programs>Uninstall a program.
My gut feeling is that you are likely OK, but until you answer these questions, we can't be sure.
