Trouble Uninstalling McAfee Security Center for Dell

I am having a problem trying to uninstall McAfee Security Center for Dell. I talked to McAfee online and I think they gave up. At the end of the call, they told me to uninstall it in safe mode, but safe mode also did not have an uninstaller. This was after they had me go through all the usual steps for uninstalling a program. I'm trying this step before I try calling Dell.

This is my situation: my 90 day trial period expired. I previously uninstalled McAfee and installed Trend Micro, but due to another unrelated problem with fonts in browsers, I had to restore my laptop back a couple months to when I still had McAfee. I found it necessary to reinstall Trend Micro because it didn't show that it was there. I did try reinstalling Trend Micro, which recognized that McAfee was there (I guess since I restored to a previous set point) and asks if I want to uninstall it, but when I say yes, it comes up with an error message: "Uninstall cannot continue because some components are missing. c:programs\mcafee agent\uninst\mpfrem.ui are missing" (or words to that effect).

In my Control Panel, there is no uninstaller for Mcafee, only a listing for McAfee Uninstaller (but I can't find this in my programs, even with a search). No other McAfee programs are listed.

Thank you for your assistance! I used the method that you detailed, ratther than the link. It took 30 to 45 minutes, but it worked wonderfully. There were about 4 pieces of the Registry that would not delete, but they didn't affect the removal of McAfee and my installation of another virus protector. Thanks again!

In case anyone else ends up here, I tried following the link and that worked perfectly and only took a few minutes. Here's the gist of what it says:

1. Open My Computer.
2. Open Drive C:. It's probably called Local Disk (C:),
3. Open Program Files, then Mcafee.com, then agent, then app.
4. Delete any and all files that end with .adf. You can delete them by clicking on the and hitting Delete key on your keyboard or by right-clicking the file(s) and selecting Delete.
5. Go back into Control Panel, then Add/Remove Programs find McAfee SecurityCenter, and click Remove.
6. Check-mark all the various McAfee components (Spam Killer, Firewall, etc.), click uninstall, tell it yes you're sure, go through the uninstall process, then restart the computer and it should be gone.
