ky331. Will SAS update through the older version or must you uninstall the old version of SAS first?

You need SAS v. 4.56.0. 1000 to update from the program, otherwise you need to do a clean install to SAS v. 5.

SAS updated all its links to V. 5 today. Early this morning SAS still had v. 4.56 in its link for the pro version.

To my understanding, Hernan is correct... SAS version 4.56.1000 made arrangements for an AUTO-update to version 5.

If you have an earlier 4.x version, you will have remove it in order to upgrade to 5.x.

[I guess it's also possible to upgrade first from an earlier 4.x version to 4.56, and then, afterwards, receive the auto-update to version 5...]
