Value Creation failed at line 422

Question

I cannot get by my WINDOWS XP signon screen after my intial login. It returns the message "value creation failed at line 422". When I try to get out of this with a control delete it puts me back at the login screen, but when i type my password it just types blanks. No matter what I do I can't get beyond this screen, so I cannot run Adaware or anything on it.

The Gateway Site just posted this:

When Microsoft Windows XP is logging into the desktop, one or more of the following messages may appear:

Your system is low on virtual memory. Windows is increasing the size of your virtual memory paging file. During this process, memory requests for some applications may be denied.

Windows product activation: A problem is preventing Windows from accurately checking the license for this computer

Parser message: Value creation failed at line 422

If the computer successfully logs in, the computer may run extremely slow.

Cause: This issue appears to be caused by Spyware/Adware installed on the computer; however no specific program has been identified as the root cause at this time.

Resolution:

Gateway does not support viruses or . However, Gateway provides fee-based tutorial support that can assist with these issues.

THEY HAVE NO SOLUTION, GREAT..... MAYBE YOU CAN BE THE HERO IN FIGURING THIS OUT OR LETTING ME KNOW WHERE I CAN FIND THE FIX. I BEEN OUT OF A PC FOR A WEEK AND NOW THAT SCHOOL IS OUT, I NEED THIS THING WORKING. thanks

Possible fix, the last post here. The other suggestion I say was to do a Repair install.

Thanks Derf for tracking that down! Seems like I may have to re-install windows XP completely... Not sure how to do that .. guess i have to just put the disk in the CD drive when the pc boots up.?

In your opinion what's the best website (s) for getting information on the latest spywares and viruses? Mcafee and Symantec don't seem to have much on spywares.

I think a repair install can be done without loosing your files and data. Directions for a Repair Install can be found here.

As for the best website for malware info, I'll have to let one of the experts answer that.

sorry to say my computer did the same thing. same problem.....I did a clean install of XP Pro.....I've still got some kind of worm or something like this....I ran spybot...found a DSO exploit. ran HJT and results are being reviewed I'll let you know what they find out..by the way after I did the clean install the DSO exploit was still there. don't know...!

Here i am, 3 weeks later and still no solution.. I've been searching everywhere for a solution.

I tried using Repair Install using "fixboot" and using a "wsaupdater" file recommended via another site.

I cannot get into safe mode by hitting F8. Is there another way of getting to this mode, so I can at least copy my files so I don't lose them? Appears as if i have to perform a total windows Xp re-install?

I would pull the drive and put it in another machine as a slave or a master on the CD-ROM IDE connection (unhook CD-ROM for a bit).

Try to retrieve the data to good HD.

I had this error when logging in and when i clicked ok 10 -15 times it showed me login screen i looged in and it now works (currently writing this from pc im talking about)
