XP Login Logout Loop E510 New Hard Drive to install Will this work?

I want to try and put in a new hard drive and I lost my cd's from the original purchase and a community member very kindly left me a message to access a link to Dell and request a backup copy direct from dell, will that copy have everything I need to rebuild the new drive? Then could I make the original drive a slave and get my files off that drive? Also I do not have that blue ribbon cable (I think it's power) do I need another to make the slave work?
