peoplepc on internet explorer
Does anyone know how to remove people pc from internet explorer? all of the sudden it's on my toolbar and when I go to google and run searches it is hijacking my browser. Does anyone know what this is? I have run spybot but it didn't remove it. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Can you remove that using Add/Remove programs?

{3DE88907-3E38-11D4-BEB2-CBE76C0598DD}
BHOBandobject.dll
PeoplePC
--------------------------------------------------------------
As Mike said, try to uninstall PeoplePC using Add/Remove Programs first.
Then try to remove IE BHO:
Close all active applications.
Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Internet Options -> General tab -> Settings -> View Objects.
The folder (C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files) with all stored objects will open.
Find the object related to (check names and Properties):
PEOPLEPC
or
BANDOBJECT.DLL
or
3DE88907-3E38-11D4-BEB2-CBE76C0598DD
and delete it.
If having problems finding the object, just delete them all.
You also may need to remove the entry from the registry:
Start -> Run -> Regedit -> OK.
Browse to the registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects
Delete:
{3DE88907-3E38-11D4-BEB2-CBE76C0598DD}
Close everything.
Restart computer.
All the Best!

Thanks for your reply. I can't find it in add/remove prgs. I can't find it in manage addons for the browser. I'm using XP, so I couldn't find the internet options as you said. I did open the directory you said, and I didn't find the same numbers you listed. I do see a folder for peoplepc under windows directory, but the directories are empty with the exception of one DLL, named inimod. I'm a little worried about editing the registry myself, so I'm not sure if I want to go that route. Does that help? Any other ideas?
Thanks again,
riverst

No, it is not listed under add/remove. It is also not listed under manage browser addons.
Thanks,

Go to www.trendmicro.com, and then:
2. Click " Scan now, it's free".
2. Check(tick) " Auto Clean".
3. Click " Scan".
Download, then unzip to " C:\HJT", the newest version of HiJackThis; version 1.99.0. Now, let's do the following:
1. Click " Scan"
2. Click " Save log"
Notepad will pop-up with a copy of your system long, then:
1. " Edit | Select all"
2. " Edit | Copy"
Next, let's " Reply" back to this post, then:
1. Right-click on the message body.
2. Select " Paste"
Then just " Post" the message, and we'll analyze your log shortly, then post back any recommendation(s).

Run HiJackThis and click " Scan", then check(tick) the following, if present:
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://bfc.myway.com/search/de_srchlft.html
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://home.peoplepc.com/home
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Connection Wizard,ShellNext = http://home.peoplepc.com/home
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Window Title = Microsoft Internet Explorer provided by PeoplePC
Now, with all windows closed except HiJackThis, click " Fix checked".
