Vostro V131 ram upgrade

I have an old Vostro V131 with latest A04 bios from dell website, it said in the Dell and intel manual that support only 1333MHz ram. So I installed a new 1600MHz ram on the system. It boot well and run fine. But why the bios keep reporting that the ram run at 1600MHz instead of 1333MHz? Is the cpu overclocked automatically to 1600? Is it safe to continue using this ram on my system?

Thanks.

Hi there,

We see the system is tested with DDR3 1333MHz, Min 2 GB to Max 8 GB memory. Hence, RAM with 1600MHz  can cause damage to the hardware in the longer run, as this is not tested and we are not aware of the damage it may cause.
