Issues w/ Dell Touchpad in Windows 10 - Inspiron 14R 5421

Hello,

I recently upgraded by Dell Inspiron 14R 5421 laptop from Windows 8.1 to 10, and I've had issues with the touchpad ever since.  I wasn't able to scroll at all with the touchpad in any Windows 10 app (I could scroll elsewhere, such as in Firefox or File Explorer).  Thinking it was an issue with my Dell Touchpad Driver, I downloaded the installer for this driver, which was explicitly recommended to me by Dell Product Support for my specific laptop w/ Windows 10.  However, when I tried to run the installer, I received the error message "Invalid access to memory location."

Results from an old Dell forum thread via a Google search indicated to me that this meant I couldn't installer the new driver without uninstalling the old one.  I did that and restarted my computer, then re-downloaded the installer for the new driver before trying again.  This is where things get weird: It gave me the same memory location error message, but when I delete and re-download the installer to try again (just in case), I can sometimes run it, yet nothing seems to happen; other times, I get the same error message.

At this point I'm at a lost; I originally was trying to fix an issue with scrolling with the touchpad, and now I can't even install what Dell Product Support is telling me is the appropriate Dell Touchpad Driver.  I assume that installing the appropriate driver will fix my original problem, but I don't even know that.  Can someone at least advise me on getting the appropriate touchpad driver installed on my system?

Well, more than five hours later I tried re-downloading the newer touchpad driver again just for the heck of it, yet this time... the installer actually ran.  I have no idea what happened for it to work this time, but it worked.  And, as I hoped, installing the newer driver fixed my original issue too!  I can now scroll with my touchpad in Windows 10 apps just fine. :)  So to everyone out there having scrolling issues in Windows 10 apps... make sure to upgrade your touchpad driver.  It just might do the trick.
