Which Dells have UEFI, Secure Boot, and TPM 2.0

In my workplace we have been issued a directive that all computers must be removed from our network if they don't support the following:

UEFI

Secure Boot

TPM 2.0

Is there a list of Dell models that support these three requirements?

jwc121401,

Unfortunately, there is no list of all the Dell Computers that support the information you are wanting to know in your post. You can boot into the bios of the computers that you have and check to see if the information is listed. You can also post the Dell model of your computer on this post. I can then let you know.

You'll need to check the systems one by one -- even if supported by hardware, it'll depend on which OS is installed and on how that OS is installed.

General considerations:

Most consumer-grade systems (Inspiron, Vostro and some XPS models) do not have TPM.

Most Latitude, OptiPlex, and some XPS models will have TPM, at least if they were sold in a market where TPM is allowed (there are markets where it is not).

The TPM 2.0 spec was finalized in mid-2014, so just about any system older than 2015 will not support 2.0.

Secure boot requires UEFI and a 64-bit OS - Windows  7, 8 or 10.  UEFI-compliant Windows 7 installs are fairly rare -- most Windows 7 installs, even 64-bit will be MBR.

You can pretty much scratch off the oldest systems here:

Latitude XT3
OptiPlex 3020
OptiPlex 7010
OptiPlex 9010
OptiPlex 9020
Precision M4500
Precision M4600

XPS 8700

These either won't have UEFI or are too old to support TPM 2.0.

Bear in mind that simply having UEFI or TPM 2.0 doesn't mean these are enabled -- you will likely find yourself reimaging or reloading a lot of systems, if they weren't deployed with UEFI settings and/or TPM enabled.

Most of the other systems you have are new enough to have UEFI and TPM 2.0 support.

You can check the TPM situation, if running a recent Win 10 system by going to Settings-Upgrade-Windows Security and then look at Device Security.  Some systems may need a firmware update available on the download site to bring them up to 2.0.

Most new systems are capable, if that is what you are asking.

I have the Model number for the laptop would I be able to post the model number here to see which is still TPM 2.0 compliant because I have over 300 laptops so logging into BIOS for them all is not feasible right now

UEFI

Secure Boot

TPM 2.0

UEFI is very old but when you add Secure boot that means model from at least August 1, 2012.

UEFI Class 2.3.1  Windows 8.0

TPM 2.0 comes much later with TPM 2.0 support is July 29th, 2015 with windows 10.

Class 3 bios further restricts the system to running WINDOWS 10 or later.

This means models will not install DOS, WIN98, XP, VISTA,  7, 8  or Legacy MBR.

All new computers are 64 bit only and Windows 10 only.

So Models that Support Windows 10 from 2016 and later fall into that category.

INTEL, AMD, NVIDIA, Microsoft etc are enforcing WIN10 only and 64 bit only.

TPM is also not just a chip.  Intel PTT replaces the TPM chip.

Trusted Platform Module (TPM 2.0) - TPM 2.0 is a microcontroller that stores keys, passwords, and digital certificates. A discrete TPM 2.0 also supports Intel® vPro™ Technology and Intel® Trusted Execution Technology (Intel® TXT).Intel PTT is a platform functionality for credential storage and key management used by Windows 8* and Windows® 10. Intel PTT supports BitLocker* for hard drive encryption and supports all Microsoft requirements for firmware Trusted Platform Module (fTPM) 2.0.

Intel 5th Generation systems and up support this with VPRO being optional. Therefore the following models would apply

Depends on the specific model. 7910 is not listed as model that supports firmware upgrade. The 7910 supports 32 BIT WINDOWS 7 which means it may NEVER have Windows 10 TPM 2.0.

HOWEVER The update utility lists 7910XL whatever that means???

Seems to support this model.

TPM is also not available in all countries so this counts as well.

Excellent question, since these are now required features to run Windows 11.
