XPS 13 9360, Windows 10, Touchpad gestures not working

Hi.

Some time ago all the gestures for the touchpad (e.g. zoom, two-finger scrolling, etc.) stopped working. I've tried updating, re-installing, deleting and installing the drivers, but to no avail. The touchpad itself works well, it's just the gestures that have disappeared for an inexplicable reason. I've tried everything I could think of, so I'd be grateful for any kind of advice or suggestion.

Regards,
Vadym

I have tried every possible solutions online, but none of it worked and I have tried new one. I hope this might help you.

I'm Using Dell Inspiron 5558 and i got this problem yesterday.

Before attempting this make sure you have updated all dell drivers and intel drivers successfully.

If you open Device Manager in Control Panel, and under Human Interface Devices -> I2C HID Device is showing "This device cannot start. (Code 10). A request for the HID descriptor failed.", and the touchpad clicks is working but not the gestures, then I got the correct solution that worked for me.

See if there is a file "hidi2c.inf" in "C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\hidi2c.inf_amd64_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" (where x is some random id). Right Click and Choose Install.

If it shows Operation completed, you can see that the gestures come working and options to modify in Windows Settings app.

I was able to get gestures working by installing a generic PS2 Synaptics Touchpad Driver: https://www.techspot.com/drivers/downloadnow/17786/?evp=b133bb8c88a2a545c68b6e2774d07604&file=23559.

Using device manager to install the inf file:
Synaptics_v19_0_19_1__C__x86-x64__Win10__Signed__MS_Win10_UXUI_PS2_SMbus\Synaptics_v19_0_19_1__C__x86-x64__Win10__Signed__MS_Win10_UXUI\WinWDF\x64\SynPD.inf

I saw on a different thread that opening up the computer and cleaning the touchpad connector cable fixed the issue. Can confirm, that after opening the laptop up and cleaning the connector with some q tips and iso alcohol, the touchpad is working with full functionality. It is a very easy job to do if you have minimal technical knowledge. I would suggest this to anyone having this issue.
