support for broadcom virtual wireless adapter for windows 10

Hi there,I've reserved Win 10 upgrade. GetWin10 App says my Broadcom Virtual Wireless Adapter (Dell Wireless WLAN 1501 Half Mini-Card Driver) isn't fully compatible with Win 10 and I'll experience connectivity problems on my machine after upgrading. I can't get any drivers from Dell/Broadcom site that are compatible with Win 10 on my machine. Does it mean after upgrading to Win 10 I'll lose wireless connection on my laptop or Win10 will support my device out of the box? How to fix that issue?

it means your laptop will use windows universal drivers for wifi which will results weaker signal, it will be better for you to wait until official drivers are out for your model then install the driver after installing windows 10 to keep your signal strength.

I have the same exact problem.  I cannot update to Windows 10 until there is a Windows 10 compatible Broadcom Virtual Wireless Adapter for my Dell laptop.  I wonder if Dell even knows about this and I wonder if Dell is even going to actually do anything about this.  I wonder how I can find out if and when there is an updated adapter.

I want to understand why Dell is not going to make it possible for my Dell Inspiron N5010 to be compatible with Windows 10.  Does Dell not care to ever have my business again? Should I just go get me an HP or something else since I can no longer depend on Dell?  Should I go to my Facebook, Google Plus, LinkedIn, and Twitter accounts and broadcast the fact that Dell is leaving me for dead?  Please explain yourself Dell. I am a very long-time customer of yours and you have always been there for me but now I am not so sure.

I have the same problem.  I called Dell and they said my computer wasn't able to be updated, even though the only thing that came up was the Broadcom Virtual Wireless Adapter.  They said the process, RAM, Hard Drive wouldn't work and that I needed to buy a new computer.  This however is BS, based on the operating requirements for Windows 10 and my machine.  I guess I forgot how bad Dell customer service is.

That pretty much settles it, I will not be buying another Dell.  Anyone have any suggestions as to which brand I should buy next since it WILL NOT be a Dell?

Hi,

For everyone having this issues in multiple topic, I have an Inspiron 15R N5010 (early 2010) and installed Windows 10. I don't have internet connection issues and everything work great except the little black screen when turning on the computer, but it's ok.

I have the same problem and again am disillusioned with Dell and Broadcom. I have tried to download Win10 and it did start, got to over 50% and then disappeared and I can't get it to restart the download.

How did you manage to get Win10 to download with the incompatibility issue?

Thanks for that Nik. I tried that this morning and it did not work. I just hope there is an update for the Broadcom in the next few days.

Hi again,

I just checked my Network device in Device Manager and it look like they remove the Broadcom driver, but I still have DW1501 Wireless-N WLAN Half-mini Card.

Whatever, my Wifi work great.

Do you have this wireless device?

Hi Nic727,

I have just checked and I don't have that.

Thanks for your efforts and time.

I don't know if you can download another wireless network... If you can, go into the support page of your computer and select the driver you need, but wait a Dell employee to answer before.

Thanks very much Nic727, I will do that.

I had the same problem but figured that I don't actually need or use the Broadcom Virtual Wireless Adapter so uninstalled it from device manager, ran the compatibility checker again and all was good. Windows 10 works just fine without it. I have a Dell N5040 and upgraded from Windows 7 home.

All the best

Bill

I tried the same, upgrade to window 10.  Message is the broadcom virtual wireless adapter is not compatible.  I called Dell and the tech person stated to me this is not Dell's problem even though Dell installed this into the laptop that they sell.  He suggested for me to speak to Broadcom.  Dell is not supporting this as it is just a manufacturer of the laptop.  I tried to speak some more and this Dell tech person just hung up on me.

Rude customer service and ridiculous company customer relationship and worst customer support to its hardware.  A company like Dell should support what it manufacturers.  I have been a long time customer with Dell.  This is going to drive me away from their machines.

Can someone tell me that if I uninstall the Broadcom virtual wirless adapter that the laptop will still connect to the internet?  Thanks
