Alienware X51 R2 - Windows 8.1 Installation

I have a Alienware X51 R2.

I'm reinstalling the Windows 8.1 downloaded on a USB key with the Dell OS Recovery Tool.

The Windows installation wizard is asking for the product key.

I know that the product key is embedded in the BIOS.

Why the Windows wizard is asking for the product key ?

How can I fix this problem ?

There might be an error in the program 'looking' at the product key. Your best bet is to get the freshest copy of Windows 8.1 from Microsoft, download the latest drivers from Dell and install that way. You can get 8.1 via here:https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows8 Download your drivers here: downloads.dell.com

The Dell OS recovery Tool has gave you installation media which is trying to install the wrong Edition of Windows 8.x e.g. Home instead of Home Single Language. You are best to use the Windows 10 Version 1709 Media Creation Tool as it creates a multi-Edition .iso which automatically inputs and accepts all Windows 8.0 OEM, Windows 8.1 OEM and Windows 10 OEM keys and correctly installs the correct Edition of Windows 10 OEM:
