Adobe software purchased with laptop need to transfer

Question

The problem is I want to transfer the adobe software that I purchased with my laptop to a new machine as my old Dell laptop is not working and keeps crashing. Thus I changed to a new laptop I have transferred most of my software, however I am having an issue with this. I need to validate this but do not have the serial number and cannot find it on my old machine anywhere. I have sent a number of requests for assistance with this , but am not getting a response. I am getting very annoyed as I spent about 1800 euro Dell laptop which has now keeps crashing at it only 3 years old. Thus I need to transfer my adobe software as I have paid for this thus it is belongs to me. Please someone in Dell, provide me with the details I need and let me get on with my work.

You often get a substantial discount for buying it with a computer, but there are limitations to this 'OEM' software, including the ability to transfer to another computer - it is tied/licensed only to the computer with which it was sold.  Also remember that you purchase a license - not the actual software - so you are not free to do as you please with it, you are only allowed to use it under the terms of the license for your version of that software. If you need the flexibility of moving/transferring software to another machine, you need to purchase a 'retail' (or full) licensed version.

Did you purchase the Adobe Software with the laptop through Dell as an OEM copy?  OEM software has an end of life and will only go with the computer its purchased with.  OEM Versions are cheaper than a retail box license.  I wouldn't reccommend purchasing an OEM copy of the software if you intend on transferring your software every couple of years.  If you are one who will use the software 4 or 5 years and don't buy new computers all the time then this is a good way to go.

Thanks for your help, I was not informed of this when purchasing this software. The reason I changed my Dell computer is he LCD screen is busted, and the connection cable broke and it has vista OS so it keeps ... cutting out. I can still use it with an external screen. It also overheats and has only one USB point. It is only 3 years old, and to replace it I bought a refurbished laptop.

Is it possible to change the OS system and use the Adobe software that is on it?

I know now not to purchase software with laptop / computer again.

As long as it is compatible with the newer OS, you can upgrade the old OS and continue using the software.
