Anyone having trouble keeping a connection with AOL after you've gone on the Internet?  I keep getting cut off and getting a message that there is a problem with my AOL software which came already installed on my E520.  I haven't found a CD from AOL which will allow me to reinstall without signing up for a $9.95 or $21.95 per month charge.

Thanks for the info............but, I can't find how to backup my favorites (which is long) and my address book.  The crazy thing is, I can sign on through Internet Explorer and go to AOL from there with no problems...........but, I ordered this machine with AOL, and I thnik Dell should fix it.  I've talked with three techs, and no answers.  Do you agree?

no - your warranty does not cover software.
you could simply un-install the AOL software. you would have no more problems with AOL after that. :smileyvery-happy:

I also received AOL with my Dell computer. What I found out is that if you are still within the 6 month free trial period, AOL will assist you with any technical problems you are having with their software.

Call this number to talk with a customer service representative: 1-888-800-9544.

Hit a brick wall.........I had downloaded new software twice and uninstalled the original plus the first new download...........didn't work..........talked to AOL who suggested I use a new CD, which I did, but it forced me to use a new screen name ($9.95 per month) with the loss of my address book and list of Favorites.  Cancelled that and re-dowbnloaded the upgrade whicle cancelling the new account.  Still have my software cut off at least once when I sign on, so I think I will try to find a guru somewhere here (Greensboro, NC) who might be able to help me.  Might even talk to the salesman at the Dell store here, where I bought the computer.  Once again, many thanks for your help!

Good morning:

Once when I was forced to do a restore to factory default, I reinstalled AOL  and made the mistake of not checking the appropriate box (indicating I  had an existing account).  This forced me to sign on as a "guest" using my original sign-on identification so that I could have access to all of my original information.

I soon tired of this.  I uninstalled and reinstalled  AOL again watching carefully for the appropriate prompt which read "new account or existing  account"  (something to that affect).

If you are having trouble uninstalling and installing AOL and signing in as an existing account, try signing in as a "guest" with your original AOL sign-in names.

I truly hope this works.

And what is this about $9.95.  AOL is free!!!!!!!!

God Bless.

Yes, it's free, but you get exactly no help from them.............if you need technical advice, you must at least be paying $9.95 per month!  As an old friend used to say, "Nobody gives ya nothin".  I hope you don't need any technical help with your program.  Thanks again.

I am sorry you are having so much trouble.

I have had several problems with my AOL which is why I thought I could be of help.  In fact, I called them just yesterday and talked w/a tech about losing emails.

When I first called the number I  suggested to you the service representative verified my email address and indicated that as part of  my AOL six months trial package, I was also entitled for their technical services.  (Perhaps it makes a difference if  the computer is purchased from Dell or elsewhere.  I do not know.)

Again, I apologize for all the hassles.  I have been there.

God Bless.
