Boot from USB on Latitude D600 with floppy drive only

Question

I have a Dell Latitude D600 that I need to boot from the USB drive, but the BIOS does not have USB listed as an option. The boot order:

1. Diskette Drive

2. Internal HDD

3. Cardbus NIC

4. Onboard NIC

5. Diagnostics

Maybe I'm missing something? There are 2 USB ports on the back of the laptop. Is there any way to add USB to the list?

Thats not an option with the D600

You can't add USB to the list unless a newer version of the BIOS has that capability.

Plug in the usb drive, restart the laptop, hit F12 at the Dell logo screen, then select the usb drive from the boot list.

The usb drive will not show up on the one time boot list unless it is plugged in prior to using F12

I have bios A16 on my D600, it has "USB Storage Device" in the boot order. You may need to update your bios

I had the same problem. You have to set the 'USB Emulation'-Option to Enabled in BIOS!
