C:\WINDOWS keeps popping up on startup

Every time I turn on the laptop, the dialog box for C:\WINDOWS shows up on the startup. How can I stop this.

BTW, all the help I've gotten on these message boards has been awesome!

Hi,

Go to Start>Run>Regedit
In the Registry Editor find this key:

HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
Click on "Winlogon" and in the right pane look for Userinit, it's value should be:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe,
assuming that Windows is installed on the C:\ drive. If it reads anything else change it to that value.

NOTE
Before you make any changes back up the "Winlogon" key for safety
Post back if you don`t know how to do it
