Cannot get 2007 McAfee Internet Security Suite to run

I have just purchased McAfee Internet Security Suite 2007 to replace my 2006 version. My problem is the disk will not run the install wizard. It seems the driver does not recognise the disc. However when I put the 2006 disk in it starts up straight away. The other odd thing is in the 2007 package I got a bonus QuickClean disk update and that installed without a problem. Can anyone, anyone help me resolve this. I have XP and my Dell Dimension 5150 PC is less than 2 years old.
Thanks

You need to ask this question on the McAfee support page at http://www.mcafeehelp.com/selectSupportType.asp?siteId=1&cnrcheck=done .  This a common problem and you should be able to fix it.

As paindoc suggests, contact McAfee.

I had problems trying to install one of their upgrade products last year.

Used McAfee e-mail tech support, eventually received a very detailed 3 page reply, well intended but it didn’t help.

It didn’t really matter since whilst waiting on the e-mail reply I had tried McAfee live-chat support & bingo! within seconds the problem was resolved – very very impressed or maybe just lucky that I got the right live-chat person?

McAfee also has a user forum similar to this one.  Before I finally discarded McAfee in disgust because of poor performance, software conflicts, and continual  notifications of impending doom, I found the forums interesting and sometimes helpful.

I have tried McAfee help on line chat, but they say as the disk works on another PC there is nothing wrong with their product. I will try again though.

On live chat, ask for removal tools.  You may have a registry value that prevents an install.  Have you tried an install in Safe Mode?  Start tapping F8 as your computer boots.  When you hear a ping, wait and Safe mode will open.  Have you registered and created a McAfee account?  Until you do, the instal ma=y be blocked.  I really dislike McAfee for this and many other reasons.  I, and many forum members, are very dissatified with it.,  Even Consumer Reports does not recommend it.  You can buy Trend Micro for anywhere from $14 to $49 if you shop around.

I have used removal tools and I am registered with McAfee. For some reason when I go into safe mode I cannot use my Tiscali broadband service and believe it or not my PC now does not open the Tiscali installation cd and yet it will open others. Maybe your suggestion of getting Trend Micro is the answer. Someone is coming to check out my disk drive as he has suggested it may need replacing. All this because I just wanted to upgrade my security suite. Thanks for your suggestions anyway.

When you use Safe Mode, be sure to allow networking.

I have now had my problem sorted. It required replacing my disk drive. McAfee Suite 2007 now installed I am pleased to say. Thanks again for showing an interest and trying to help.
