Dell Inspiron Duo 1090...

Ok.. I was given a Dell Inspiron Duo 1090 by a good friend. It had Windows 7 home when i got it. I had already updated a previous computer of mine to Windows 7 Ultimate so I decided that I would update this one as well since I had spent $319.00 for the Operating System, lol. Well, after the install I cannot for the life of me find the "Network Controller" Driver... not even a generic one... ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

Hi Tino2fasT,

The following WLAN cards are offered on this system:

  • Dell Wireless 1501 (11n) WLAN Half-Height mini-Card (Verdi)
  • Intel WiFi/WiMAX Link 6250 Mini-Card (US only)

In order to install the correct driver for the wireless card, you would need to check the wireless card installed on your computer. You can check it from system configuration tab on support website.

You can also check the system configuration from the link: http://dell.to/QVOQWC and then install the appropriate drivers from link: http://dell.to/XGG4hg.

If you are not able to find the wireless card installed on your computer, you can private message me the service tag. I have added you as a friend. Please accept my friend request by clicking on my name highlighted in blue and then click on “Friends” tab at the top and then click on “Request to Review” and finally click on “Accept” button.

I am sending you a private message as well. Click on “Inbox” to respond to the message and provide system’s Service Tag and contact details so I may access your system records and check for further course of action. You could also click on Start Conversation to send a private message.

Please share the findings.

Thanks you for your help Chinmay S.. I provided my Service Tag number and was able to get all the drivers for the Dell system I was checking for. In this case it was the Atheros Network Driver that did the trick, its all taken care of and thatnks again!!! :emotion-2:

Hello Chinmay!

I hope you can help me. I have a fairly similar issue to Tino2fast. I bought the Inspiron Duo 2 days ago at Wal-Mart (yes I know, it must have been gathering dust in a corner for awhile). I tried getting support, but I am told the product is too old and waranty is over, so I would have to pay (this has not made me happy - I thought warranty was something which started at purchase). The product was configured in French, which I was not crazy about, so I used the included disk to reinstall Windows 7 in English. I cannot get the Network controller to recognize a driver, including the ones I dowloaded from the Dell site and the Atheros in particular, so I have yet to do any Web. I have a feeling the reinstall of Windows did not quite work. For example, I used an external DVD to load the Windows reinstall and after the reinstall, the Duo stopped recognizing the external DVD player. As I ran a diagnostic, I got messages about a missing drivers for Video, Multimedia, etc. Net, my question is: how do I do a factory reset on the machine? I went through the F8 routine, bu it does not offer Factory Reset option. Can you help? Thanks a lot!

Hi JIEFFEM,

I understand your concern.

If you have partitioned / resized hard drive of computer, you will not be able to perform a Factory image restore. In this case, you may install the drivers for your computer from the link: http://dell.to/XGG4hg > Enter the Service Tag of your system and select the operating system > Download the appropriate drivers.

Other way is to check the components shipped with your computer. You may check the system configuration page from support website: http://dell.to/137Ex95

Enter the service tag and can check the components shipped with your computer. Install the appropriate driver from the instructions above.  Once the drivers are downloaded install them in the correct order. For more information on this, you may refer to link: http://dell.to/tIauHN

If the issue persists, you may paste the screenshot of 'Device Manager', so that I can assist you in a better way.

Please reply for further clarifications.
