Does anyone know how to get rid of the Dell Support Alerts from my System Tray? I have Windows XP Home. Support Alerts don't work, at least for me, and it is annoying. I don't see any service in my startups using msconfig. I even tried a registry fix that someone posted in the Community Forums, but that didn't work either. I would prefer not to uninstall the program from the Add/Remove programs because that would also uninstall the Dell Support application which contains some useful system reference information, like my System Tag and Service Code numbers. Thanks in advance for your help.
Uninstalling the useless program does NOT remove the little application that shows you your system tag and service code.
I uninstalled Dell Support Alerts and it did remove everything from my Start -> All Programs -> Dell Applications folder. To restore the Dell Support application, I had to map it from the C:\Program Files\Dell folder. However, uninstalling did not remove the Support Alerts from my system tray, aargh! Does anyone know how to get rid of this thing? It's like a trojan! :smileymad:

That's strange. I uninstalled it on mine and have the program still that shows service tag and express service code.
When you click start isn't there a ? (Help and Support), third from the bottom on the right side? This will open up the Help and Support Center. What model dimension do you have? I know the 8200 and 8250 had problems deleting Support Alerts.

Yes, thanks, I didn't know you could access the Dell Support Center from the Windows Help and Support frame. I actually own an Inspiron 5100 laptop.
I finally found out how to disable Dell Support Alerts from appearing in my System Tray each time upon startup. I downloaded a free program called Startup Control Panel from this link:
http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml , ran it and unchecked "DwlClient."
