Don't know why computer hardware is not used as a weapon more often (need Phone Tools Fax help)

Well, in general, this whole thing is just makin' me nuts! Registered after about a dozen tries. Can't find a thread. Don't know if I've a hardware or software issue. And the new users FAQs doesn't have an option for "WHAT? !!?!" Since this is the only problem I've ever encountered, (yeah, right.) I suppose I would appreciate some direction...and perhaps a pat on the head. Here, sans the cynicism, is my DELL-ema: Without notice, I am prevented from sending a fax. In the past, I have suspected the problem to somehow be related 'Phone Tools' installation or set up. I am not exactly sure how my friend and faithful fixer of such things gets it working again. This time however, the wizard stops and opens a box that asks me to wait for processing. At which it goes to lunch and does not return. I also cannot fax via the BVP capture option out of the application. Other perhaps relevant information includes: 1) Just because I can use the vocabulary doesn't mean I know what I'm talking about, 2) I am not set up in explorer but use Mozilla instead and 3)My modem was installed by the Cox Cable technician and magically provides high speed, broad band capabilities.
