Duplicate 'MY Documents' folder and all files

Question

I sure this has been asked and answered but a forum search didn't work.
I have two My Document folders, one on c:\ and one shown on the "my computer line" in windows explorer. All files are duplicated when I create a new folder and a file.
It is as if there is a "copy" command working somewhere.
The files in the duplicate My Documents folder behave as shortcuts altho they are not marked as shortcuts.
Deleting the duplicates also deletes the originals!

Any help would be appreciated.

noobody, Thanks, but this is new. Its not the 'most recent' list. I think this happened when I tried to rename the desktop shortcut. Clearly as set of duplicates that were not there before. Bill-

I'm not sure what you really see as a problem (so forgive me).

but there are special shell associations in Windows that display the Control Panel, Task scheduler, My Documents, etc... in Windows Explorer as files and directories.

They ARE the same files. the \My Computer\My Documents one is a shell pointer to the real location at C:\My Documents.

You could use a different directory as your "My Documents" folder... something like C:\Bill or something... that way you wouldn't see this automatic duplication.

I'm sure there is a registry key that could be removed or altered to make WE not display the My Computer one if you were really adamant.

hmm... tough to say. perhaps searching through your registry for 'whatever you renamed your My Documents folder to' would give some clues.  good luck.
