HOW TO DELETE INTERNET EXPLORER COMPLETLEY ??

Does anyone in the entire universe know how to COMPLETLEY DELETE INTERNET EXPLORER from a WINDOWS XP OS?

I tried and it seems to be impossible to do so. My version of IE is CORRUPTED for some reason and it won't let me update it to a new version or an old version.

I am not looking for a cheap answer avoiding the main question.

the question I repeat, HOW DO YOU REMOVE IE COMPLETLEY?

If you can successfully answer this question this will be the only place on the entire internet with the answer and I will award you with the title of GRAND MASTER INTERNET GENIUS. If you don't know the answer like me, you will remain with the title of GRAND IDIOT WANNABE INTERNET DORK.

Thnx

Razimus,

Thanks for using the Dell Community Forum.

Can you be a little more specific as to what is happening.  For starters, can you tell us how you're sure that IE is corrupted.  What is happening, what errors do you get, how is it not functioning.  Try to include specifics such as error messages and so on.

Okay, well I see its impossible, that's probably what that whole law suit against microsoft due to permanently fusing IE with the windows os.

Ok the Error Message I get, I download the NEWEST version of IE from windows.com
and when I click to open it, it says "You already have a newer version of IE on your computer, therefore this installation cannot continue". I don't know what version I had previously but after checking the IE folder I see its empty. Anyway my guess is I just have to reinstall all of windows to fix this probelm. Is this correct?

Accfording to the link I sent you you can do a repair/reinstall of IE 6 without reloading the OS.

Go to www.majorgeeks.com.

On the left hand side you will see "Files" sections to look in. Click on the section "browsers" and scroll down to IERadicate. Download it and run it. You will be IE free. Then just install the version of IE or Firefox you want. I would install IE again as IERadicate sometimes deletes small parts that are needed elsewhere in Windows.

The download page for IEradicate clearly states:

Not for use with Windows 2000sr2 or Windows XP.

The original poster said Windows XP.

Hi Razimus,

Using Internet Explorer Safely

When security expert Steve Gibson of ShieldsUp at http://grc.com/ fame was on he told us he still uses Microsoft’s Internet Explorer in Windows, despite the security and spyware issues.

For Windows Users:

Here’s how Steve uses IE safely:

1. Under IE’s Tool menu open your Internet Options… click the Security tab, and set security for the Internet zone to High (slide the slider all the way to the top).

2. This will make a large number of sites unusable, but… when you get to a site that doesn’t work add its URL to the list of Trusted Sites. To do this open Internet Options… and click the Security tab again. Click the Trusted Sites icon and press the Sites… button. You can uncheck the box requiring https://. Try it now by adding http://*.windowsupadte.microsoft.com and http://*.windowsupdate.com this will make Windows Update work.

Only add sites you know are safe to your trusted list.

To prevent browser hijacking I recommend installing Spyware Blaster at http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html (This is unnecessary if you have security set to high, but it’s useful just in case you accidentally give access to a bad site.)

UPDATE: Windows XP SP-2 adds a new zone to XP: My Computer, and locks it down. This is a very effective way to combat browser hijacking. Microsoft provides instructions for people who have not yet installed SP-2 here at http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=315933 but it’s not for the faint of heart.

Although this will make Microsoft Internet Explorer a little more secure it will never be as secure as Mozilla at http://www.mozilla.org/products/mozilla1.x and Firefox at http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/ browser's.

Can't find IERadicate on the entire net, all pages seem to have removed it, even tho its made for an older version I'd be willing to try it, but I'll just have to wipe the drive and reinstall windows, there's no easy fix, the microsoft.com fix doesn't help at all there is nothing in the add/remove programs list to remove its not there, and yes I clicked the show updates box, it doesn't exist on the list yet a mutated invisible version remains. Plz don't refer me to windows.com again their page has links that are a hall of mirrors to no end and their solutions won't dent the problem.
Thnx for trying though.

Remember, IERadicate is for Windows 9X, not XP. Use it at your own risk.
