How to reboot my Inspiron 6000 from CD?
I need to reboot my Inspiron 6000 from the CD as it won't start up normally. How can I do that? I currently get an
error message states, "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \system32\hal.dll. Please reinstall a copy of the above file" which is happening due to missing or damage of hal.dll

This is the name of the operating system that will appear in boot menus.
Type
Microsoft Windows XP Professional
or
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
ENTER
Next you'll be asked to "Enter OS Load Options."
For normal installations, enter
/Fastdetect
ENTER
Exit
to leave the Recovery Console and reboot the PC, which should then start normally.
