When Dell updates drivers they will post them on the Drives and Download page for your model. They are categorized by the operating system
You can find the drivers that would apply to your system HERE. Remember to select the correct operating system.
Another thing to keep in mind that all the drivers that have been used in your model will be listed. That does not mean you need every one of them as they are a general listing of all devices that were installed in various configurations.

hi Davet50, still don't think you got the point i know i can download latest drivers, but i would have expected the drivers and utilities cd that came with machine to have reasonably up to date drivers it didn't even have any drivers at all for the GFX card in my machine. and the GFX drivers installed and in c:Drivers folder didn't work correctly.
As i said if i wanted to completey scrubb my machine getting rid of recovery partition e.c.t and didn't have internet access the drivers supplied on cdare no good there is't even one for my GFX card.

It will never happen. Those Disks are printed long before the updates are posted. I have never known of Dell updating the Driver disks, and i believe that there is a mention either in the manual or on the disk advising one to check the web site for updates.
All that disk is intended to do is to get you up and running. Then you can go out and get any driver updates that might be needed. So it will never be fully up to date as the support page. I doubt you would find this at any other mfr of computers either. It is just the way it is.
You best bet is to make your own disk. I do I keep an rewritable Cd handy with all the latest and greates drivers for my system. Normaly in all actuality the only drivers that regularly change are the sound and video. There are the occasional bios updates an possibly a few others. It is a good pratice to once a month check for current drivers for your rig.
Also then there is the old addage if it ain't broke don't fix it. Not all drivers and such are really that critical unless they are marked as so. You have to become a bit computer smart and look at just what exactly the update is for. Sound and video are generally the ones which one wants to keep up to date especially if one is a gammer. But here again with these two especially you are far better off going to the mfr's web site and getting the latest driver from them. Dell usually does not update these on a regular basis like the mfr would.
