License issues with music after loading Windows Media player 11

Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2

I recently upgraded to WMP 11.0.5721.5145 and when I try to play certain tracks (burned from original cds) I am directed to download a license.

Then when I click on download license Error: your Netscape browser does not have "Microsoft Windows Media services" plugins installed appears.

Attempts to perform a security upgrade are also unsuccessful.

Are there issues because I use Mozilla Firefox as my browser?

Any suggestions to correct this problem or must I reload all burned cds into my library?

Suggestions anyone????

I've a horrible suspicion that Redmond has struck again. I use Firefox but have to keep IE because Microsoft sites do not like Firefox (I wonder why?). I find that sometimes only ¾ of a KB article appears when I use Firefox and I can't download much from the Microsoft site without some message telling me that "This site was designed for IE... blah, blah."

I hesitate to say to anyone...Have you thought of downloading IE7?... but unless you have or can find a copy of IE6, there may be no other way forwards.
