Live Tool Bar in IE 7 and Address Bar for My Computer window

I have the address bar in My computer XP home SP2, IE 7 final. View menu, toolbars, check address bar should work. If not, you could try

scroll down to address bar, toolbars missing in Windows Explorer. The download file will may fix it.

though it refers to other toolbars, and there is an unfortunate typo (reference to right pane where left pane is meant). For Windows Explorer (which would be My computer as well), go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\Explorer in the left pane, click on it to show its contents in the right pane. In the right pane you will see the value ITBarLayout referred to in the article.

To ensure we are discussing the same item, I would say I don't have an Address Bar in the My Computer window of Windows XP - Home Edition, SP 2 even though the Address Bar is checked in the Toolbars section of the View menu.

P.S. - Can you provide me also with a response as to whether you find the Windows Live Tool Bar an asset in Internet Explorer

7?  Perhaps there are advantages I have overlooked.  Thank you.

StewartFluney, If JRosenfelds info did not do the trick try this.Bring up my computer and where you think the address bar should be look all the way to the right side and see if there is a handle or anything that will bring up a double arrow when your mouse pointer is over it. If you get the double arrow click on it and hold mouse button down and drag the address bar out. Then I think if you double click the bar it will stay unhidden.This worked for me but I have IE6.

I may have presented my situation incorrectly.  I was speaking about clicking on the Desktop icon showing My Computer that brings up My Computer window, and there is no Address bar. I have tried to install one there using your suggestion, but it will not work and is possibly not intended to in Windows XP.

 

I hasten to say, however, if I go to Windows Explorer on the Desktop and click that icon, it will bring up a window that has an Address bar and from there, of course, you  can click up the My Computer window.  So, I will use this method from now on to have an Address Bar when I go into my Computer.

I do have the address bar in My computer (although I rarely use My computer, I prefer Windows Explorer).
