Owner/Administrator/might not have permission

Question

i 8600 Windows XP Pro SP1.  I bought it, and paid for it.  It's mine.  I am the Administrator.  I thought that meant the boss.....   It's in my home, on my D/Port APR, and on my home network.  I never ever want this computer to tell me that I don't have permission to do anything.!!!!!!!!!  Ever again....!!!   How can I make that happen.?  A big ole sloppy kiss to the one who tells me how.

I'm trying to get into my workgroup on my home network.  two computere.  both mine.  I keep getting the message to contact the Administrator.  I own the computer, and am logged on as the Administratoir.

Do you mean you are trying to access resources on Computer #2 from Computer #1?  If so, are those resources marked for sharing?

I mean that I can't even see if there are any computers on my network....... let alone get into them.  Do you understand what I'm saying?   I am logged on as the Administrator on my host computer, and it won't let me get into 'My Network Places' to see if the other computer is there.  I find folders all the time on this host computer, that I can't get into, and I am logged on as the Administrator.  That's what I don't understand.

Somehow, you have removed the Adminitsrator Rights to those folders and to certain options, which is why it is recommended not to use the Admin account for daily use.

As far as I know, I haven't been anywhere that I could have removed Administrator's rights to the folders.  Do you know how I can get into something that will restore those rights?

Check under the User Accounts and make sure the Admin Account is actually a Memebr of the Administrators Group.  I don't think you can change it though.

Go to Control Panel and in the left hand pane at the top you can switch to Classic View and things will look 'normal' to you.  In the Control Panel you will see the Users Applet.  Open it and view the properties for the Admin Account and make sure it is in the Admin Group.

I am the Administrator.  I don't know how to find the Administrator's group.  I can barely navigate in XP.  I'm used to 98SE, and can't find anything in this.

I can't find anything in their that says Administrator Group.  All I can find is my name as Administrator.

And with that you need to go to Properties and it will tell you which Groups that Account belongs to.  If you double click the User Applet, you will se the User name / Domain/ Group Headers.

See what you can change about your Account. YOu should be to add it to the Administrators Groupif it is not already a member.

XP Pro is by far the best designed OS on the market unless you're a total Geek and like figuring with command lines to run Linux.

When I go to Control Panel I see down at the bottom, User Accounts... I click on that and I get a User Accounts dialog box...Left Pane:Learn About User Accounts. Right Pane: User Accounts...Pick a Task or Pick an Account to Change. Down under that, is my name and under it, Administrator. To the right of that is Guest. I can't get properties on either.

When I click on Me, I get another dialog box that asks me what I want to change about my account. None of those help me a bit. I can't get a Properties option out of anything in that entire console of stuff. Where have I goofed up,.... other than buying a computer with Windows XP Pro? AL

Can't get to anything that says Administrator's Group from there.  I've clicked on every option and none of them have anything to do with Administrator Group.  AL
