Quicktime

When using quicktime, I get these messages:

When not connected to the internet:   "Some of the file types associated with Quicktime applications are currently associated with other applcations.  Should I restore these file type associations to Quicktime.

(Checkbox) - Do not ask to perform this check again.  The Quicktime control panel can be used to make subsequent changes."

On the internet:  "Some of the MIME types previously associated with the Quicktime plugin are currently associated with other applications.  Should I restore these MIME type associations to Quicktime.

(Checkbox) - Do not prompt in future,

-------------------

I don't know what MIME is.

Anyway my question:  Is it correct to assume that I get these messages because Quicktime is not my default player?  (My default player is Windows Media Player.)  And if so, should I put a check in the checkbox so the messages will not come up in the future?

Yes you are correct.

If you want to keep Media Player as your default player you can just check the box to not show the message again

If you let Quicktime take over the file associations Media Player will no longer open when you want to play music/video etc.

Thank you dunedin for taking the time to answer my question.  I don't want Quicktime to take over being my default player, since I rarely use it, so next time I'll check the box.

You are very welcome.

Quicktime and Real Player are both notorious for taking over your file associations.
You have to keep them under control :smileyhappy:
