Request for Help (Dell Inspiron 1420 laptop)

Dear All,

I have decided to install Windows 7 Professional (32 bit) for my Dell Inspiron 1420 (32 bit) which I get the ISO image disc (OS) from MSDN AA. However, I'm a totally noob in installing OS. Thus, I would like to ask how I can do it? Most importantly, can my laptop supports Windows 7? Where I can download Windows 7 drivers for my laptop? Dell Support? I should download the drivers after I install the OS? Thanks in advance for all the helps. Below is my laptop specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2.4 GHz

WIndows Vista Home Premium (32 bit)

4 GB RAM (DDR 2- 667 MHz)

NVidea GeForce 128 RAM M8400Gs

Run the W7 upgrade advisor before installing W7.    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/get/upgrade-advisor.aspx

You burn the ISO to a DVD as an image, then boot from the DVD to install W7

W7 should have all the drivers, after it is installed, go to device manager and see if any drivers are missing.

Like I said earlier, Windows 7 will most likely have all the drivers for the 1420 when you install it.

Hello mombodog,

Firstly, thanks in thousands for replying me as I'm still new here in this forum. Your reply is very helpful to me especially the websites' link which you gave me in your text. However, I noticed that DELL has not developed Windows 7 drivers for my laptop - Dell Inspiron 1420. Is it a major issue for me before I want to install the new Windows 7 Professional (32 bit) into my laptop? Thanks in advance!
