Requesting backup media disks question
As per Dell tech support, I was told that I can request a copy of the media discs (including backup disk for OS) for my XPS 8700 by going to www.dell.com/recoverymedia and completing the request form. The first time I did this I got the message to register my system which I did. However, when I tried to request the recovery media again, I got the same message. Tried a few more times and same thing. I confirmed that my system was registered. Am I supposed to receive a confirmation email that the recovery media request has been received and the "set of backup discs containing the factory-installed operating system as well as the device drivers and utilities specific to your system" will be sent out or is there a problem with the web page?

How long did you wait? System ownership/registration can take several business days.
Which OS? Are you getting the media for a reason (reinstall, etc.) or just to have?

As per my original post, my system is already registered. Win 8 is installed and I want to do a reinstall, possibly install an SSD and need the OS.
According to Dell tech I can request the recovery media via the webpage www.dell.com/recoverymedia and I attempted to do this but it doesn't seem to have worked. Each time I have attempted it I get the message that I need to register the system.

When you complete registration/ownership transfer, it is NOT immediate. It usually takes a few business days. If it has been longer than 3 or 4 business days, then I'd recommend you CALL them.
