Resource CD says "Does not recognize the computer as a Dell computer"
I got a virus and had no choice but to wipe out my harddrive. Everything went and installed great until I got to the Applications Recource CD disk and all of a sudden it says it doesn't recognize my computer as a Dell and says it will close now. I've looked through the forums for an answer to this problem but all anyone said was for me to go to the downloads area and download it to my computer. There's the problem of the fact that on this disk, is the things I require to actually set up an internet connection. I can't get on the internet with my laptop. I'm forced to use another one for the time being.
Please! Please! Please! Help me. I'm so frustrated, I don't know what to do anymore. If someone could just tell me what to do. It's the last of the things that needs to be installed. Please help me!

If the disc will not install, you will have to download the needed drivers from the Dell downloads with a different PC, burn them to a Disc or a USB Memory "key" and take that to your PC and install the drivers.
Keep in mind with a new install the correct and required install sequence is (1) Install Windows (2) Install Dell Desktop or Laptop System Software (3) Install motherboard chipset drivers (4) Install device drivers including video, sound, ethernet, etc.
However, you didn't have to destroy the Dell restore and diagnostic partitons, only the "C" drive partition had the virus and needed to be reformatted.

Thanks for your analysis! Now I understand more about it.
