Restore Dimension 8300 - Can I get an image CD?

I have a Dimension 8300 with XP Pro. I started working for the company after the last IT guy left (he was the one who bought the machine), and I have no idea if my computer shipped with a restore CD, XP disk, and where the driver CD might be.

I know that it was bought *before* 7/15/2004, which means it doesn't have Dell PC Restore on it. However, is creating "My Operating System CD" similar in what it can accomplish? I've reinstalled XP on a number of machines, but I always had the original Drivers cd to go with it, and I'm worried about attempting to re-install XP on this machine without those drivers.

If I create "My Operating System CD" will that provide both the OS AND all of the drivers that my computer shipped with when new? However, I don't want any other program of file to be re-installed other than those that it came with when new.

What do you recommend?

Thank you very much

adrock31,

Systems built when yours was have neither the PC Restore feature nor the ability to create an OS CD. The latter was implemented late last year or this year. At the time it was purchased the system definitely shipped with both an XP CD and a Drivers CD. You can download all the necessary drivers for the system from the Downloads link in the drop-down menu under "Product Support" above this forum, but it appears that you will have to purchase a replacement Windows XP CD.
