Roxio Creator 'Premier'???

Question

When I bought a new Inspiron E1705 a few months ago I decided to purchase one with Windows Vista.  I am a long time user of Roxio products including Easy Media Creator 8, which is not Vista compatible.  Dell bundles 'Roxio Creator Basic' or 'DE' into it's pre-installed software options.  They also included an option for $59 to upgrade to 'Roxio 9.0 Creator Deluxe/MyDVDDeluxe' which would have led me to believe that this was the full, non OEM, version of Roxio's software suite.  IT IS NOT! It is still a watered down version of the full retail Roxio Easy Media Creator 9 Suite.  It does not include the individual applications i.e. Disc Copier 9.  This is a problem for me because I can't burn DVD image folders (VIDEO_TS, AUDIO_TS) that include the .ifo, .vob files etc.   Has anyone ever gotten Dell to credit them back for misleading them into purchasing something that is not what they really advertise?  If not oh well, but I do hope this stops others from making the same mistake I did.  I have not yet contacted customer service on the issue because I wanted to check here first to see if anyone has any advice.   Thank you.  :smileywink:

I doubt that you will have any luck getting any credit.  You got what you paid for, although you may have thought it was something different.    On another thought, I have Easy Media Creator 9 and it is not 100% Vista compatible and it will bomb out on me frequently - even the label creator program.    I also have Nero 7 Ultra and it works great and is 100% Vista compatible.  I used to be a Roxio fan (since the old Adaptec days) but since I got Nero I rarely use Roxio.  I keep it on my PC as I do PC support, and I have some older jewel case inserts in the labe creator format,  but that's about all.

It looks like the version I have is EMC9, Creator Premier. In my version there is a "Copy" section that allows the duplication of any non copy-protected media.

Is this what you are missing? or is my version also missing the "Disc Copier 9" you're referring to?

This section also includes the capability to Burn Image to Disc and Save Image to Hard Drive.

I was able to burn the DVD image folders by importing them into MyDVD 9 and then burning the project to disk. Also, I'm able to disc copy from one DVD to another.

Yes my version does have this copy section also. In EMC8 there were individual programs, one of which was Disc Copier. It allowed a DVD folder burn, not requiring an .iso or other similar image file(s). I believe that version 9 (the full version) is capable of this but not the stupid version that Dell sold me (and you too).

I do have Nero 7 Ultra Edition that I have 'aquired'.  Does it allow DVD folder burns using the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders, or does it require image files such as .iso?

I don't know what a 'VIDEO_TS' or 'AUDIO_TS' folder is.    I don't do much video so I can't say how it works, 99% of my use is for audio.

I don't have those folders on my Vista machine.  They must be something a program that I don't have creates.
