Stop 0x00000077 or KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR
I support OptiPlex GX110 and Latitude D800 systems that have recently experienced a BSOD which resulted in the following error message:
Stop 0x00000077 KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR
The resulting parameters are as follows: 0xC000000E 0xC000000E 0x00000000 0x00A0B000
I have searched throughout the web including Dell Support site, Microsoft TechNet, and Google for information about this condition. I have not found any web pages that list those parameters specifically. I found many which had similar parameters with that error, but none that were exactly the same.
What I've found is that rebooting only returns the "F1 or F2" response about not having a bootable drive or going into BIOS setup. When I checked the BIOS settings it does not list the hard disk, and it would not give me a choice for a similarly sized drive.
On the first system that this problem occurred I assumed the hard drive had failed. I swapped it out with an identical drive from another system and restored all the files from that original from the last backup which was taken on a Friday evening (I found the crashed system on Sunday, and no one had used it since before the last backup.)
I haven't done anything to troubleshoot or repair the second OptiPlex GX110 or the Latitude D800 yet. Since this has occurred on three systems we support within the past few days I became suspicious, and I am alarmed that it might continue to other systems we support. Possible causes include a Virus attack, but our McAfee 8.01 doesn't report any problems; patches being pushed by Windowsupdate or our local security manager; or firewall parameters being changed or patches being pushed by WAN network support personnel outside the LAN. I'm sure there are many other possibilities as well, but these are just some I thought of.
What has me puzzled is that this occurred on three systems within days, two of which have not been used for weeks due to employees being away. I could understand that the GX110 systems might have reached a similar lifetime hardware failure because both were manufactured within days of one another, but the Latitude has totally different components and is at least three years newer than the other two systems.
Since my office supports about 100 of these systems I really am desperate for some type of cause and solutuion before other systems suffer a similar fate. If I can head off future problems now I want to do that ASAP before we start losing systems faster than we can restore them.
