Loubenia,

Tcpsvcs.exe is a legitimate Windows file but it can also be associated with a backdoor Trojan horse program. See this.

What is bothersome about this issue, assuming it is the virus Denny found, is that this virus is three yesrs old.  By now I would think all AV software would catch it.  Are your virus signatures up-to-date?  Is your AV prgramming?  Are you using real-tme or its equivelant?

First of all.THANKS !!!, I will do your recommendations ,yes I am new here but my computer is one year old, I already ran Norton antivirus (again) and there are no more infected viruses found so maybe they are hidden,I also have downloaded all the free antivirus check ups I have found with no exit (just the pc-cillin found 4 on java files  and erased them) I was thinking that maybe buying some fixing software would do the trick and find the problem (would it? ), I had a chat with a Dell technician and he asked me to do a manual start up of the programs but nothing happened,it stayed the same, even with all disabled there is the TCPSVCS.EXE eating all the cpu usage,I was also thinking to restore my computer to an earlier point but have never done that and don't know if it will fix the problem,so I will work on it right now and see if I can help it to be a good girl again, also another question:........ does this cpu usage at 100% damages my pc or it just makes it slow ??..thanks a lot and have a good night.

In Norton it is called "Auto Protect."  I have no idea what it is called in other products.  I scans for viruses and other "bad" thing when files are downloaded or mail is opened.

Hello, well I did everything you sugested and there is still that TCPSVCS.EXE consuming all my cpu memory and making my baby so slow that it took me like 10 minutes to log on :smileymad:...............There are no files that are named as the ones in the backdor trojan worm, then I tried the system restore (for the firs time) and was not possible, there are no bold dates to choose and can't go back to previous months,so my last resource maybe is to re-install windows xp but I have no idea on how to do it or if I will loose all my documents and pictures ,programs, etc. any tips??.last tips??........WHAT DO I DO?...Thanks anyway for all the help, by the way .....technicians charge so much (average of $40 to 55 dlls for every 30 minutes or 1 hour) that I rather buy a new pc than call them, thanksssssssssss!!!

Denny.................

MY BABY IS BACKKKKKKKKK AND LIKE NEW AGAIN:smileyvery-happy: !!!!, I just can't believe it, well I did the same (as the person on the thread you left me) with the network connection settings and it came out that I had 2 TCP\IP'S activated,one named  microsoft and the one that my baby is using, so I noticed microsoft's one was not in use, I first disabled  it and restarted, nothing happened ,so I said a prayer and deleted it and BOILA!!!!,my baby's task manager  is now 4% to 7% average cpu usage, sometimes it goes up to 25 % when I switch web pages or have more than one program open and active, but then it calms down and stays at a very low % , as a precaution I minimized task manager and there is the green square at the side of the clock (turning bright green when it moves up and down), just to be checking it.

I had done so many things to try to fix my problem and now I find you and you helped me, you don't know how much this means for me,THANK YOU!, THANK YOU! God bless you!!!!!!!!!!.

HAVE A VERY NICE AND HAPPY DAY AS I WILL.

Just a last little question, when I was trying all those free programs to fix my problem I downloaded one that is called PC RESCUE and it told me my pc had more than 500 problems  that needed to be fixed (that sounds scary) but I had to buy it in order to make the complete fix, this morning I was tempted to buy it but I first came and checked if there was a response and now I did fixed it thanks to you, so, Do you think I need to buy it to fix that problems??.....be sure I will do as you say, thanks a lot.

Loubenia,

Glad to hear that the problem is solved.

Any program that offers to analyze your system, finds a ton of problems, and then offers to fix them if you purchase it is probably not a good investment.

Yes you are right, I found out Dell could check my pc,so I activated that feature and nothing wrong came out,so maybe they just found files that will be erased when I make a defragmentation of the hard disk or I clean it, I have never done that to my baby and don't know how often it has to be done,I will do it soon, thanks again.
