The Dell Wireless Printer Adapter 3300 isn't compatible with Vista, right?

Dell's WPA 3300 absolutely will not work on my PC running Vista.  I've probably read through most, if not all of the threads about this problem.  Does Dell (or perhaps a fellow reader) have a solution?  This is most frustrating.  Thanks.

I don't have this product, but it may simply be a rebranded Lexmark wireless print server, such as the Lexmark N4050e:

If so, you may wish to search the web for information on if/how the Lexmark device is configured for Vista (including drivers on the Lexmark site).

If you can find the necessary Vista software and/or information needed to configure that Lexmark product, try it.  If not, you may be able to configure it anyway, assuming that it is already working on an XP system.

In that case, you may only need to add the printer to your Vista system, and then configure a printer port for that printer.  Attach the printer directly to the Vista system (presumably via a USB cable), and let Vista install it as a local printer.  Then, reattach the printer to the print server, and add a network port for that printer under Vista.  If you are lucky, the Vista port settings will be the same as the port settings for that printer on your XP system.

Note: I assume that the server and the rest of your network are all visible to your Vista PC, even though you cannot print through it.  If not, you would need first to correctly configure the Vista PC so that it can see your entire network.

The problem with the WPA 3300 and Vista is the compatability. I used my WPA on my new XPS M1530 for 2 months. I installed it by going into the compatability wizard from the start button and typing it in. Then I had to do a "mirror restore" on my 4 month old computer (not happy). I tried to install my WPA 3300 again using the same method but the wizard was "not found" (not happy again). I did an online chat with a XPS tech who had a hard time understanding what a WPA 3300 is (not happy AGAIN). After a long discussion and my class on what a WPA is, he really came thru. Dell has a driver available for download for the WPA 3300 and Vista. Follow the instructions, it works great. http://support.us.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R147095&formatcnt=1&libid=0&fileid=195662
