Ultimate Mahjongg 10 game boots PC into safe mode..

Question

I'm running a dimension 4550 with windows xp..I installed the game Ultimate Mahjongg 10 a couple months ago & everything was fine for a long while..Then all of a sudden one day when I opened it from the shortcut on the desktop, the PC went to a black screen for a few seconds then came back in a 'safe mode' looking screen then a few seconds later the game starts like usual but also is in 'safe mode' look..If I exit out of the game, the PC goes back to the normal looking screen (regular mode) except for one problem, the screen is now smaller with a 1/2 inch black border around it..I then have to restart the computer to get the normal size screen back.. I have uninstalled & reinstalled the game 3 times now with no luck, it still does the same thing..I even went to 'search' under the start menu & typed in 'mahjongg' to see if I missed deleting any part of the game & got rid of anything that was related to the game before I reinstalled..I'm confused, HELP.!!!! Thx a bunch.!!!!!!!

I don't know of any way the game could make Windows go into safe mode without a reboot, which would close the game and any other running apps. I think that the game is actually changing (lowering) your screen resolution. The black screen for a few seconds is the typical effect you get if you change the screen resolution. When it closes, it returns the screen to the original resolution, but maybe does not correctly resize the desktop to fill the screen. Depending on your monitor, there should be controls that you can adjust so that the desktop fills the screen at each resolution setting (for some monitors this is automatic, for some there are presets that you can adjust and save: check out your monitor manual).

I am not familiar with the game, but there may be a setting in it to control the screen resolution at which it plays. Many games have such an option. If so set it to be the same as the resolution you normally have.

Problem solved.!!.I went to the game & adjusted the horizontal & vertical screen size with the on screen controls accessed from the buttons on the front of the monitor..Then I left the game & went back to the desktop & adjusted it the same way..I then turned off the computer, restarted, & tried the game again..This time all was normal..Apparently it saved my changes, cool.!!!!!   THANKS FOR THE HINTS!!!!!!!
