Updating Dell Vista PC to Win 7 with a new Dell PC Win 7 disk
Hello-
Just got a new Dell desktop with Win7 Home Premium for the kids. My personal Dell desktop is 3 years old running Vista Home Premium. My question is, could I update my personal desktop with the reinstallation DVD I received with my teh PC I got my kids?

Technically it probably work to do the actual upgrade, but legally, you can only do this if you own a valid and unused license to run Windows 7 on your old Dell. It will, at some point, ask you for a Product Key, which you will not have if you have not purchased Windows 7 in some "valid" way/shape/form. Easiest thing to do would be to purchase the upgrade/download from Microsoft online.
