Upgrading Hard Drive Space and RAM

I recently ordered Windows 7 for my Dell Vostro 1000 laptop, which only has 111 GB of Hard Disk space total, 896 MB of RAM, Dual-Core Processor, and 1.70 GHz (if that does anything with this) I know Windows 7 recommends I think 1 GB of RAM, but can I upgrade my RAM period? Along with my processor (if that needs upgrading; I'm not a computer whiz at this) and all the other techy stuff?  I am just stuck with this and I want to make sure before I make my trip to the computer place.
