VISTA/Media Player 11 - .mp3 start delays

Question

When I select an .mp3 song from my HD for play with MP11, I encounter a 24 second delay before the sound begins. Songs from a CD (wav) have NO delay.

The VISTA is on a brand new Dell Dimension DXP061, Vista Home Premium, 32-bit OS, 3070 MB RAM.

The same song (flash card copy) played on my old XP MP10 system encounters NO delay.

Did M$ do something to me or should I return the computer to Dell? I've been through every online Help Center & FAQ and cannot find an explanation.

This is actually an issue with Vista and Windows Media Player. The audio being piped through the Audio Enhancements sections of Vista has a bug in it that when using Windows media player causes this 20-sec delay. If you load a play list in WMP, it will also cause skipping approx. 30-sec before the start of the next song.

Problem is resolved by using another audio player such as iTunes. This is the only way I've been able to get the Sound Blaster Audio enhancement software that came with my XPS1210 to work correctly.

Additionally, turning off the Use Audio Enhancements section of Windows Sound will also resolve this, however, if you're like me and have the Sound Blaster software, it will also disable the Sound Blaster software.

This was the answer I have been searching for.  Though I appreciate those with the awesome sound cards and the need for perfect sound, i just needed the music to flow for my sanity.  Thanks.
