Vista will not boot into recovery mode.
I am cleaning up a laptop that my grandfather was given, and I want to do a factory reset. To get it into the Dell recovery mode, (The instructions say to start from repair mode) I try and boot it into repair mode, but the laptop boots into normal windows. I can not find a way online to burn a recovery disk set for this laptop. I do have a factory dell disk, but it came with a different model of dell laptop. (Also, Home Prem Vs Business) Should the disk work to reformat and install with out having any license/key issues? The COA on this laptop is still intact.
It is on a Dell Vostro 1400. I just updated the bios (A00 to A09)
The Recovery disk I have is for a XPS 1530

In order to restore the system to the factory image you would start the computer and TAP the F8 key. Choose "Repair Your Computer" from the advanced menu options. Follow the prompts to restore the system to the factory image.
CAUTION:
This utility formats the operating system hard drive partition prior to restoring the factory image. This means data on that partition is deleted and cannot be recovered.
If the customer creates a second partition with a third-party utility, Dell Factory Image Restore is not affected as long as the image partition is not removed.
