Win Media Player 10 DRM
Does everyone have problems with Windows Media Player 10 Digital Rights Management??
I have purchased music from MSN Music and backed up my licenses. Still, I cannot play any music in WMP. There is always an error message that has something to do with licenses. When I try to play a song/album, the box comes up that says that it is acquiring licenses. It gives an option to click on, "Already Purchased.." but when I click on it, nothing happens. The "acquiring licenses message just stays there forever. This happens with all music all the time.
"Cannot play the file C00C1197" is another error message that I get all the time. This happens on all three of my computers. The older versions of WMP worked fine. This is a new problem with the new version. I have written to MSN and they tell me to re-purchase my music! (of course, more money!)
Is there some better way to save/backup/use licenses?
Anyway, is there some guide to DRM somewhere that I can read, does anyone understand this issue? I certainly do not! (I have been to Microsoft...no help there. I do have most recent updates)
Comp #1: Dell E-310 WinXP Pro, Media Center Edition 2.6G Intel processor, 700+MB RAM, IE6 (last security patch done-4/12/06), Windows One Care
Comp #2: AWARD WinXP Pro, 1.2G Athlon AMD processor, 700+MB RAM, IE6 (security patches current), and IE7 beta but haven't started using it yet, Norton SystemWorks.
Comp #3: Dell Dimension 2400, Win XP Home, 700+MB RAM, 2.6G Intel processor, IE6(all patches current), AVG paid version.
All are running Windows Media Player 10. All have the same problems...cannot play any downloaded music due to licensing issues.
Incidentally, I did start using iTunes and it is much better but it cannot convert WMP files to be used with iTunes....so that music is still useless!! Thanx!

You might have to dig for the answers to your questions, but a good place to start is here:
