Windows Update Error number: 0x80070078

Thanks for the reply, but the error message I get is 0x80070078 - not 0x800a0007. 

And besides, I have no idea of what they are talking about! 

How did you find that?  --V

Sorry, I misread your post. Some of these errors can be found by doing a Google Search.  maybe something here will be helpful.

V from CA, I have been searching for anything that may help and really haven't found much on error number 0x80070078. Is that the completer error message? Do you already have SP2?    Also try cleaning up your temp files by going to Internet Explorer>Tools>Internet Options>Delete Files>put a check mark in Delete OfflineFiles and click on OK.

I clean my temp files quite often and another clean just now did not help.

Here's the message I get directly from MS after hitting http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/v5consumer/default.aspx?ln=en-us:    

(usually takes a few seconds)..........

The last option does not work either - I sent them an e-mail but have yet to get a response.

I have also sent this message to another forum board, Windows XP.  Maybe between the boards, I can get a handle on this problem.
