Windows update won't run

When trying to run windows update I get error message x8024001D.  A search of Microsoft and Dell sites & boards brings up no matches for this error #.  Have spent 1.5 frustrating hours on MS & Dell sites trying to resolve this.  Any help would be greatly appreciatede.  thanks
