i have been using this computer for years and now all of a sudden this message has occurred. Nothing has been added nor deleted no software no hardware. How can i get back in to the desktop so i can at least do a backup. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sonia

Might be too late for a backup. The hard drive has most likely failed. You can do a reboot and run disk diagnostics, but I'd just buy a new hard drive.

how can i get the word documents from this failed hard drive. they are important to me. i already connected the failed hard drive as a slave and it was detected but when i try to explore the failed hard drive it tells me that this drive is not formatted if i want to format it. Help!!! Sonia
